TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATION – TROY LEE GARRETT

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Troy Lee Garrett, 35, of 15335 Jester Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA, on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on LA 70 east of Paincourtville on Thursday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Troy Lee Garrett and engaged Garrett in an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted and requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During a protective pat down of Troy Lee Garrett, deputies seized a quantity of suspected Heroin.

Troy Lee Garrett was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Heroin
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Speeding

Troy Lee Garrett remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
