TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATION – ERIC CHAVEZ
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Eric Chavez, 38, of 361 Greenwood Road, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop south of Napoleonville on Monday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Eric Chavez and engaged Chavez in an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During that search, a quantity of cocaine was seized.
Eric Chavez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Cocaine
*Modified Exhaust Systems
Eric Chavez remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
