TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG LAW VIOLATION, STOLEN FIREARM –

LABADIEVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jaden Christopher Landry, 18, of 207 Ewell St., Belle Rose, La., on felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near Labadieville on Sunday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with equipment violations and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Jaden Christopher Landry and engaged Landry in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search process, deputies seized synthetic marijuana / cannabinoids and a large caliber firearm. The deputy conducted a serial number check on the firearm which indicated the firearm had previously been reported stolen in Ascension Parish.
Jaden Christopher Landry was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Cannabinoids / Synthetic Marijuana
*Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm

Jaden Christopher Landry remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
