TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Buddy James Bourgeois, 53, of 107 Timothy Street, Pierre Part, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop Thursday evening near Belle River.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle on LA 70 with an equipment violation. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Buddy James Bourgeois. The deputy interviewed Bourgeois and upon completion of that interview, the deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted.

The investigating deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected marijuana and methamphetamine.

Buddy James Bourgeois was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Proper Equipment Required
*Illegal Window Tint
*Turning Movement and Required Signals

Buddy James Bourgeois remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
