TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – CEDRIC ZANE SYLVESTER
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Cedric Zane Sylvester, 37, of 207 Stoval Street, Houma, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic incident on LA 70 East on Saturday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle with a registration violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Cedric Zane Sylvester. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy completed an officer / violator interview and concluded that additional investigation was warranted. At some point, the suspect turned over a marijuana blunt to the deputy. The suspect’s person was then searched resulting in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine as well as an amount of U.S. currency.
Cedric Zane Sylvester was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
*No Driver’s License
*Owner to Secure Registration
*No Liability Insurance on Motor Vehicle
Cedric Zane Sylvester remains incarcerated with bond set at $30,000.
