TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – JOSHUA D. LEE
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joshua D. Lee, 36, of 1435 Jasper Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 East on Wednesday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver who provided false information relative to his identification. The driver was later identified as Joshua D. Lee. The deputy interviewed Lee and during that interview, the suspect turned over a minimal amount of suspected marijuana to the deputy. As the investigation continued, deputies determined that the temporary license tag on the vehicle was fraudulent. Joshua D. Lee was arrested.
As Joshua D. Lee was being escorted into the detention facility, Lee was observed dropping a item on the ground. That package was located and seized and the package to contain illegal narcotics.
Joshua D. Lee was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*No Driver’s License
*Illegal Window Tint
*Obstruction of Justice
*Owner to Secure Registration
*Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoids
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
*Resisting an Officer
*Switched / Stolen / Fictitious License Plate
*Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution
*Second or Subsequent Felony Offenses
*Fugitive Warrant – St. Landry Parish on Charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute
Marijuana and Possession of Oxycodone
Joshua D. Lee remains incarcerated with bond set at $335,000.
