TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE- Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Joshua Louis Becnel, 41, of 13449 Ash Street, Vacherie, LA and Michelle Edena Jones, 48, of 210 Fandal Street, Gibson, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse on Saturday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 182 with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Joshua Louis Becnel and proceeded to interview the driver. The deputy then interviewed the passenger, now identified as Michelle Edena Jones. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the location and upon arrival, conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle. The K-9 alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle yielded a quantity of methamphetamine.
Joshua Louis Becnel and Michelle Edena Jones were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:

*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
Joshua Louis Becnel remains incarcerated with bond set at $35,000.
