TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – KEVIN MICHAEL ANDERSON, ELTON JAMES RYDER, JR., AMY LYNN BENOIT

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Kevin Michael Anderson, 35, of 152 Highway 1011, Labadieville, LA, Elton James Ryder, Jr., 40, of 175 Hurvey Street, Leonville, LA, and Amy Lynn Benoit, 33, of 100 Moffet Court, Morgan City, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 662 in Bayou L’Ourse early Thursday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Kevin Michael Anderson and proceeded to interview Anderson. It was determined that Anderson was driving under a suspended driver’s license. The deputy proceeded to interview one of two passengers, now identified as Elton James Ryder, Jr.

At this point, the deputy requested a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine.

Kevin Michael Anderson, Elton James Ryder, Jr. and Amy Lynn Benoit were all arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:

As to Kevin Michael Anderson:
*Prohibited Acts – Possession of a Schedule III Drug
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Use of Multi Beam Road Lighting Equipment

Kevin Michael Anderson remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

As to Elton James Ryder, Jr.:
*Prohibited Acts – Possession of a Schedule III Drug
*Possession of Methamphetamine

Elton James Ryder, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

As to Amy Lynn Benoit:
*Prohibited Acts – Possession of a Schedule III Drug
*Possession of Methamphetamine

Amy Lynn Benoit remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
