TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
KERRY KAREEM MITCHELL
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kerry Kareem Mitchell, 43, of 148 Daggs Street, Belle Rose, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near Belle Rose.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle and engaged the driver into an officer / violator interview. The deputy then made contact with two passengers, one of which is now identified as Kerry Kareem Mitchell. The deputy interviewed Mitchell and at the conclusion of that interview believed that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search process, a quantity of methamphetamine was seized and attributed to Kerry Kareem Mitchell.
Deputies arrested Kerry Kareem Mitchell and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
Kerry Kareem Mitchell remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
