TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS, PATRICK S. FERNANDEZ, CARLOS L. SALINAS
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Patrick S. Fernandez, 38, of 198 Ewell St., Belle Rose, LA, and Carlos L. Salinas, 53, of 120 Progressive Boulevard, Houma, LA, on multiple charges arising from a traffic stop on LA. 1 near Labadieville early Tuesday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with equipment violations and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Carlos L. Salinas and one passenger now identified as Patrick S. Fernandez and engaged both subjects in officer/violator interviews.
At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. The deputy summoned a K-9 to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of marijuana and drug paraphernalia which was attributed to Carlos L. Salinas.
Deputies conducted a search of the person and possessions of Patrick S. Fernandez at which time quantities of Tramadol and a second prescription medication was seized.
Patrick S. Fernandez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
• Fugitive Warrant – Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office
Patrick S. Fernandez remains incarcerated with a bond set at $125,000.
Carlos L. Salinas was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
• Vehicles Without Required Equipment or in Unsafe Condition
Carlos L. Salinas was released after posting bond.
