TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PIERRE PART– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Brody Chase Chevalon, 38, of 6517 Freetown Road, New Iberia, La., on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA. 70 in Pierre Part on Tuesday Morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on La.70 with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Brody Chase Chevalon and engaged Chevalon in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the suspect vehicle. In the interest of safety, the deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Chevalon’s person.
Brody Chase Chevalon resisted that effort and attempted to discard a packaged substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The deputy was able to secure the package. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Brody Chase Chevalon was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer
*Illegal Window Tint

Brody Chase Chevalon remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
