TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
CHARLETA DESHA RICHARD
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charleta Desha Richard, 30, of 115 Pugh Street, Paincourtville, LA, on traffic and drug law violations following a Wednesday evening traffic stop.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 1003 near Paincourtville.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and proceeded to interview the driver, now identified as Charleta Desha Richard. The accused provided necessary identifying information. When the investigating deputy inquired about the existence of any warrants, Charleta Desha Richard returned as wanted for failure to appear.
Richard was arrested. The deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle and during that search, a quantity of heroin was seized.
Charleta Desha Richard was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Speeding
*Driving Under Suspension
*Possession of Heroin
*Failure to Appear (Possession of Marijuana)
*Failure to Appear (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia)
Richard was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
At the time of her most recent arrest, Richard was out on $85,000 bond in connection with an October 11, 2019 arrest for multiple felony drug counts and obstruction of justice.
