TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
MARK ANDREW RENTROP, TRAVIS JOSEPH SKEEN
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Mark Andrew Rentrop, 28, of 349 Highway 663, Bayou L’Ourse, LA and Travis Joseph Skeen, 31, of 606 Aristle Road, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on traffic and drug charges following a Monday evening traffic stop near Amelia, LA.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The vehicle fled but was eventually stopped near Amelia.
The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Mark Andrew Rentrop as well as one passenger, identified as Travis Joseph Skeen.
The deputy conducted a pat down search of the driver and recovered a quantity of Suboxone. The deputy also seized marijuana which was attributed to Travis Joseph Skeen.
It was further determined that Skeen was wanted on failure to appear charges in St. Mary Parish for multiple felony drug charges.
Both suspects were arrested.
Mark Andrew Rentrop was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Suboxone
*Failure to Dim Headlights
*Flight from and Officer
Travis Joseph Skeen was booked on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Failure to Appear – St. Mary Parish (Drug Charges)
*Warrant – Assumption Parish – Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
Mark Andrew Rentrop remains incarcerated with a bond set at $45,000.
The burglary charge stems from a burglary on or about October 14, 2020 when detectives commenced an investigation relative to the burglary of a shed in Bayou L’Ourse.
Detectives learned that Skeen had been trying to sell stolen outboard motors linked to the burglary case.
As a result of this investigation, detectives obtained felony warrants for Skeen’s arrest.
Travis Joseph Skeen remains incarcerated with a bond set at $15,000.
