TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shan Michael Perera, 46, of 4171 Highway 308, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug charges arising out of a Wednesday afternoon traffic stop near Bayou L’Ourse, LA.
Narcotics agents on assignment observed a vehicle commit traffic violations and initiated an investigative stop of that vehicle. Agents made contact with the driver, now identified as Shan Michael Perera and engaged in dialogue with him as to the purpose of the stop. At some point, agents requested the presence of a K-9 unit to the scene.
The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle as well as a protective pat down search yielded quantities of meth-amphetamine, assorted drug paraphernalia and a quantity of U.S. currency.
Shan Michael Perera was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd Offense)
*Illegal Window Tint
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Shan Michael Perera remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
