TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – TREVON J. LAWRENCE
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Trevon J. Lawrence, 24, of 209 Pierre Street, Plattenville, LA, on felony charges arising out of a traffic stop on Monday.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near LA-402. The deputy conducted a stop of that vehicle and made contact with the driver, now identified as Trevon J. Lawrence. The deputy, at the time of the stop, noted the vehicle to be displaying a switched plate. The deputy also noted the driver to have a suspended driver’s license and no liability insurance. The deputy observed actions by the driver consistent with illegal drug activity.
The deputy conducted a K-9 open-air sniff of the vehicle and the K-9 alerted positive to the presence of illegal narcotics.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected marijuana and suspected Xanax. Deputies also seized a large caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in Baton Rouge.
It was further determined that Trevon J. Lawrence was a convicted felon.
Trevon J. Lawrence was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana – 4th Offense – Felony
*Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Alprazolam (Xanax)
*Prohibition on the Possession of Firearms by a Person Against Whom a Protective Order is Issued
*Switched License Plate
*Driving Under Suspension
*No Proof of Liability Insurance
Trevon J. Lawrence remains incarcerated in lieu of bond set at $110,000.
