TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Lionel Johnson, 28, of 160 Virginia Street, Belle Rose, LA, and the seizure of approximately one pound of meth-amphetamine during a traffic stop late Friday evening.
A deputy working shift observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of LA 1 and the Belle Rose Bridge and proceeded to stop the vehicle. Upon doing so, the driver was identified as Lionel Johnson. The driver was removed from the vehicle and interviewed.
As a result of established probable cause, the suspect vehicle was searched. During that process, the meth-amphetamine along with a quantity of MDMA (Ecstasy) was seized. Investigating deputies also located a quantity of illegal narcotics Johnson allegedly through onto the roadway.
Lionel Johnson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Speeding
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Obstruction of Justice
*No Driver’s License on Person
*Turning Movement and Required Signals
*Headlamps Required
Lionel Johnson was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
