TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
CHAD KEVIN PREJEAN – I.C.E. UNIT ARREST
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Chad Kevin Prejean, 41, of 2228 Lot 167 South Burnside Avenue, Gonzales, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 662 on Wednesday evening.
An I.C.E. assigned deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Chad Kevin Prejean. The deputy conducted an officer / violator interview and noted conditions consistent with illegal drug activity.
The deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted and requested a K-9 to the location.
The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of meth-amphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Chad Kevin Prejean was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Expired or Cancelled Plate
*Speeding
Chad Kevin Prejean remains incarcerated with bond set at $35,000.
