TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BELLE ROSE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Russell Paul Medine, Jr., 34, of 34354 Waguespack Road, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop in the 7400 block of LA 1 near Belle Rose on Thursday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a north bound vehicle with an equipment violation. The deputy conducted a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver, now identified as Russell Paul Medine, Jr.
The driver advised the deputy that his driver’s license was under suspension. The deputy noted Medine to be acting nervously. It was determined that Medine was wanted on a warrant for Iberville Parish.
The deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the search process, deputies recovered drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine. Russell Paul Medine, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Tail Lamps Required
Russell Paul Medine, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
