TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARREST

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kelly Marie Blanchard, 39, of 13460 Oak Place Road, Gonzales, LA, on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on LA 70 east of Paincourtville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver continued on for an excessive distance and then stopped. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Kelly Marie Blanchard and conducted an interview of her. At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy noted facts consistent with illegal drug activity.
The deputy secured a search warrant for the body of Kelly Marie Blanchard. Deputies transported the suspect to a local healthcare facility where medical personnel assisted in executing the search warrant. During the search process, deputies seized a significant amount of methamphetamine.
Kelly Marie Blanchard was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Obstruction of Justice
*Resisting an Officer
*Illegal Window Tint
*Following too Closely
Kelly Marie Blanchard remains incarcerated with bond set at $145,000.
