TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARREST
AMBER RENE COURTEAUX
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Amber Rene Courteaux, 39, of 44324 Melancon Street, Sorrento, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 near Paincourtville on Saturday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a westbound vehicle with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Amber Rene Courteaux and engaged Courteaux in an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which Amber Rene Courteaux granted.
During the search, the deputy seized suspected methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Amber Rene Courteaux was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Failure to display License Plate
*Obstruction of Justice
Amber Rene Courteaux remains incarcerated with bond set at $55,000.
