TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS- MURPHY MICHAEL WILLIAMS, JR., BRANDON STEWART
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Murphy Michael Williams, Jr., 43, of 138 Virginia Street, Belle Rose, LA, and Brandon Stewart, 45, of 162 Solar Trailer Park, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near Belle Rose on Saturday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near LA 1 and Virginia Street and conducted a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Murphy Michael Williams, Jr. and engaged Williams in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the passenger now identified as Brandon Stewart and interviewed him as well.
At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed that further investigation was warranted. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search process, deputies seized multiple doses of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.
Murphy Michael Williams and Brandon Stewart were both arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:

*Prohibited Acts, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance
*Disregarded Stop Sign
-As to Brandon Stewart:
*Prohibited Acts, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance
Murphy Michael Williams was released on a $20,000 bond.
Brandon Stewart was released on a $20,000 bond.
