TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – ICE ARREST

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Lawrence Russell Breaux, 32, of 414 East Imperial, Highway 3, Los Angeles, California, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near Plattenville on Monday.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Lawrence Russell Breaux and engaged Breaux in an officer / violator interview. The suspect became belligerent and non-compliant and had to be physically restrained and arrested.
A K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected marijuana.
There were minor children in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Lawrence Russell Breaux was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Obstruction of Justice
*Possession of marijuana
*Illegal Use of Controlled Dangerous Substances int the Presence of Persons Under
Age 17
*No Driver’s License
*Speeding – 80/55 MPH
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
Lawrence Russell Breaux remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
