TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – PAROLE / PROBATION
VIOLATION – THOMAS ANTHONY MALEK HUTCHINS
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Thomas Anthony Malek Hutchins, 48, of 3120 Parish Road, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic incident on LA 1 near Labadieville on Friday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Thomas Anthony Malek Hutchins and engaged the driver in an officer-initiated interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy conducted a K-9 open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of assorted drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.
Thomas Anthony Malek Hutchins was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Probation / Parole Violation
*No Driver’s License
*No Seat Belt
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
Thomas Anthony Malek Hutchins was ordered held without bond on the probation / parole detainer and awaits a bond hearing on the remaining charges.
