TRAFFIC STOP / FELONY GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS

DANDRE DMARKUS JOHNSON, NATHAN BATISTE, III
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Dandre Dmarkus Johnson, 21, of 1227 West Penn Avenue, Gonzales, LA, and Nathan Batiste, III, 37, of 138 D’Ville Village, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony gun law violations arising from a traffic stop in the area of LA 308 and Blackwell Lane, south of Belle Rose on Monday.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle with multiple equipment and licensing violations and attempted an investigative stop of the vehicle. The driver continued on southbound on LA 308 disregarding the deputy’s attempt to stop him. The driver continued on and was eventually stopped at a residence on Blackwell Lane. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Dandre Dmarkus Johnson and engaged Johnson in an officer/violator interview. At some point, the investigating deputy approached the vehicle in an attempt to interview the passenger now identified as Nathan Batiste, III.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, he noticed a firearm present inside of that vehicle.
The deputy conducted a criminal records check of both Dandre Dmarkus Johnson and Nathan Batiste, III and determined both to be convicted felons. As such, both Johnson and Batiste are prohibited by law from possessing a firearm.
Deandre Dmarkus Johnson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Arrest or Summons for a Probation Violations
*Flight from an Officer
*Illegal Window Tint
*Improper Display of License Plate
*No Driver’s License
Dandre Dmarkus Johnson remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Nathan Batiste, III was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Nathan Batiste, III remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
