TRAFFIC STOP, FOOT PURSUIT, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jonathan D. King, 40, of 478 Paula Drive, Thibodaux, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic incident / pursuit on LA 308 near Labadieville on Wednesday morning.

A uniform patrol deputy observed a driver with an equipment violation. Upon attempting a traffic stop of the vehicle, the driver engaged the deputy into a pursuit. The pursuit continued until the driver, now identified as Jonathan D. King, eventually ended the chase and fled on foot with the deputy in foot pursuit.

During the foot pursuit, the suspect threw items which were later recovered and determined to contain illegal controlled dangerous substances.

At some point, the deputy was able to subdue Jonathan D. King and after a brief struggle, took the suspect into custody.

Jonathan D. King was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Obstruction of Justice
*Battery of a Police Officer
*Driver Must be Licensed
*Flight from an Officer
*Obstruction to Driver View or Driver Mechanism
*No Seat Belt

Jonathan D. King remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
