TRAFFIC STOP, FUGITIVE ARREST, DRUG LAW VIOLATION – JOHN JOSEPH DEMARCO, KAYLA MARIE MCNEELY

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of John Joseph Demarco, 36, of 115 Elaine St. Bayou L’Ourse, La., and Kayla Marie McNeely, 34, of 115 Elaine St. Bayou L’Ourse, La., on criminal charges following a traffic stop on Elaine Street.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with multiple licensing and equipment violations and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as John Joseph Demarco and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. The deputy determined that John Joseph Demarco was driving under a suspended driver’s license.

During a criminal warrants check of all occupants of the vehicle, deputies determined that John Joseph Demarco was wanted on a fugitive warrant from the St, Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Demarco was arrested.

The deputy noted unusual behavior by a female passenger now identified as Kayla Marie McNeely. The deputy provided instructions to McNeely of which she failed to follow. During questioning, McNeely acknowledged that there was methamphetamine in her purse. The methamphetamine was seized. Kayla Marie McNeely was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine

Kayla Marie McNeely remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

John Joseph Demarco was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Fugitive Warrant – Failure to Appear – St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office
*Driving under a Suspended Driver’s License

John Joseph Demarco remains incarcerated pending transfer to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
