TRAFFIC STOP – GUN LAW VIOLATION

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joseph Richard Edwards, 31, of 57435 CPL Herman BRW, White Castle, LA, on felony gun law violations following a Saturday afternoon traffic stop by the Sheriff’s I.C.E. Division in Bayou L’Ourse.

An I.C.E. assigned deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation on LA 662 and conducted a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Joseph Richard Edwards and noted the subject to be acting nervously.

At the conclusion of the officer / driver interview, the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During that process, a large caliber handgun was seized.

Joseph Richard Edwards is a prior convicted felon. Joseph Richard Edwards was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Illegal Window Tint
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Joseph Richard Edwards remains incarcerated with bond set at $100,000.
