TRAFFIC STOP – MULTIPLE DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
VAN MICHAEL ANDRE
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Van Michael Andre, 40, of 1001 East Dale Street, New Iberia, LA, arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near Labadieville, LA, on Wednesday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Van Michael Andre and initiated an officer / violator interview. The deputy was advised by the communications division that Van Michael Andre was driving under a suspended driver’s license. It was further determined that the license plate displayed on the vehicle Andre was driving had been reported stolen from the Donaldsonville area. Van Michael Andre was detained.
During the interview process the deputy noted multiple indicators that Van Michael Andre may be involved in criminal activity. A number of doses of the drug Suboxone was found to be on Andre’s person. Andre had no prescription for the drug.
During an inventory search of the suspect vehicle, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were seized.
Van Michael Andre was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Suboxone
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Illegal Possession of Stolen Things
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Improper Lane Usage
Van Michael Andre remains incarcerated in lieu of $30,000 bond.
