TRAFFIC STOP – THIRD OFFENSE D.W.I.
NICHOLAS WALTER GRIMMETT

AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Nicholas Walter Grimmett, 40, of 134 South Verret Street, Morgan City, LA, on felony D.W.I. charges following a traffic stop on LA 182 in Amelia, LA.

A uniformed patrol officer observed a pick-up truck with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle.

The driver quickly exited the vehicle and approached the deputy. The suspect, now identified as Nicholas Walter Grimmett, displayed signs of impairment and had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person as well as the vehicle.

Nicholas Walter Grimmett was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center at which time he performed a chemical test for intoxication and registered above the legal limit.

Nicholas Walter Grimmet was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Driving While Intoxicated – Third Offense
*Headlights Required
*Fugitive Warrant – St. Mary Parish – Second Degree Battery

Nicholas Walter Grimmett remains incarcerated with a bond set at $15,000.
