TRAFFIC VIOLATION – FELONY ARREST – TRAYON I. BOATNER
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Trayon I. Boatner, 27 of 3021 Highway 1, Labadieville, LA, on felony charges following a traffic stop on LA 308 south of Labadieville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near LA 308 and Violet Street. The deputy initiated a stop of that vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Shane Coleman. The deputy conducted an officer / violator interview and determined that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy proceeded to interview the passenger. Upon doing so, the passenger falsely identified himself.
The passenger was positively identified by a second deputy as Trayon I. Boatner. Deputies were aware of existing warrants for Trayon I. Boatner. Boatner immediately became combative and was detained by deputies.
A K-9 was summoned to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and displayed a positive alert to contraband. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of marijuana as well as two large caliber rifles, one near the front passenger capsule of the vehicle.
Deputies were aware that Trayon I. Boatner was a convicted felon.
Trayon I. Boatner was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Interfering with a Law Enforcement Investigation
*Possession of Marijuana
*Simple Assault (4 Counts)
*Public Intimidation (4 Counts)
*Failure to Appear – Assumption Parish
Trayon I. Boatner remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
The driver of the vehicle, Shane Michael Coleman, 20, of 117 Laverne Drive, Thibodaux, LA, was issued citations for:
*Speeding
*Illegal Window Tint
He was released and ordered to appear.
