TWO COUNTS – FIRST DEGREE RAPE UPON CHILDREN

NAPOLEONVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Layne M. Barras, 26, of 638 Highway 402, Napoleonville, LA, on charges of First-Degree Rape (Aggravated) against two young females.
In mid October of 2021, detectives received information from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office which included revelations by Layne M. Barras that was brought to law enforcement’s attention, that he had committed inappropriate sexual acts with two children, females aged two and five years. The two alleged victims were well known to Barras. Those allegations included but was not limited to showing child pornography to one of the children and then acting the scene out with the child.
During the investigation, detectives interviewed potential witnesses, one of which corroborated the statements made by Layne M. Barras.
The evidence includes information extremely graphic in nature.
On November 3, 2021, evidence was presented to an Assumption Parish Grand Jury resulting in indictments charging Layne M. Barras with two counts of First-Degree Rape.
Layne M. Barras was arrested in Assumption Parish on Wednesday evening and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*1st Degree Rape (2 Counts)
Layne M. Barras remains incarcerated and ordered held without bond.
