VERIFIED COMPLAINT – THREAT AGAINST AN INSTITUTION – A LEARNING CENTER – ASSUMPTION HIGH SCHOOL – ARREST
SUSPECT: FEMALE – 15 YEARS – OF- AGE
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the filing of a verified complaint against a 15-year-old female arising from a social media post on Thursday which was considered to be a threat of violence targeting Assumption High School.
After the post was discovered, Sheriff’s deputies and detectives converged onto school property and in conjunction with school personnel, immediately took steps to secure the facility to ensure the safety of students and faculty.
Detectives quickly identified the source of the threat and did take the 15-year-old female into custody.
Law-enforcement and school personnel deemed that the incident was never a credible threat to students or school personnel. The school was returned to normal operation.
The 15-year-old female was charged by verified complaint with menacing and released to the custody of a guardian pending a judicial proceeding.
