ASSUMPTION – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports that the Detective Division is seeking to arrest Robert Rainey, Jr., 37, of 108 Rhett Place, Gray, LA, in connection with violent crimes that occurred near Labadieville, LA, on August 22, 2020. On that day, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Violet Street.

Upon investigation, deputies learned that three individuals were shot in a barrage of gunfire following a flight. The victims all received serious injuries.

During the investigation, detectives learned that shortly before the shooting incident, Robert Rainey, Jr., committed an aggravated assault with a large caliber firearm upon an individual at a Labadieville convenience store. The incident at the store led to the fight and subsequent shooting on Violet Street.

Based on investigative findings, detectives applied for and received warrants charging Robert Rainey, Jr. with:

*Attempted Second Degree Murder (1 Count)
*Aggravated Second Degree Battery (2 Counts)
*Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property (1 Count)
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities (1 Count)
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (1 Count)

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s assistance in locating Robert Rainey, Jr.
