WARRANT-FIREARMS VIOLATIONS – KIRBY DUANE SOUTHERN, SR.
NAPOLEONVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., 48, of 7626 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, La, on felony firearms violations arising from an incident which occurred on February 14, 2025, at a residence near Paincourtville.
Deputies responded to a complaint on February 17, 2025, in which the complainant advised that she employed the services of a carpenter for a home project. At some point, a relative of the complainant now identified as Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., came into her residence and began arguing with the carpenter over the work quality. At some point, Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., retrieved a firearm and threatened the carpenter at close range with the firearm, Southern then pointed the firearm at the complainant’s husband.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Kirby Duane Southern, Sr. was a prior convicted felon.
On February 22,2025, deputies applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., who remained at large since the incident.
On March 30, 2026, Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department. Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on April 8, 2026, and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Kirby Duane Southern, Sr., remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
