AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM
TRENDON DEMOND SHORT

AMELLIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Trendon Demond Short, 37, of 119 LeDoux Street, Patterson, LA, on felony aggravated assault charges arising from an incident at an Amelia retail outlet early Wednesday morning.

Uniformed patrol deputies were dispatched to an Amelia business in connection to an individual allegedly brandishing a firearm towards another subject.

Deputies interviewed the suspect, the alleged victim as well as employees of the business. Deputies retrieved surveillance footage and were able to identify Trendon Demond Short as the suspect in this incident.

Deputies concluded that Short and the victim engaged in a verbal exchange resulting from a prior disagreement. At some point, evidence indicated that Trendon Demond Short retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. Employees of the business intervened and Short returned the firearm to his vehicle. The firearm was collected by investigating deputies.

Trendon Demond Short was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Trendon Demond Short remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
