ADOPT A SENIOR PROGRAM
BLUE LIGHT PROGRAM
This program is available to anyone over the age of 55 years. Participants are provided with a blue light bulb that is equipped with a flashing device that is positioned at the front of the residence. In case of an emergency the participant can activate the light to assist responding emergency personnel in locating their residence.
SENIOR CITIZEN REGISTRATION PROGRAM
The program will target two main concerns but will be open to other senior citizen issues that may arise. A registration card was designed that, once submitted by seniors or family, will be stored in the Sheriff’s Office computer database. Registration provides emergency contact information. In the event an incident is reported, the Sheriff’s Office will be able to direct emergency resources to that person in a quicker and more effective manner. The Sheriff’s Office will also conduct welfare checks of senior citizens who opt to register. The identification / registration cards will be available at all Sheriff’s Office substations and the main office, as well as Council on Aging offices.
