TRAFFIC STOP – LOGAN JAY GILBERT, CHRISTOPHER LEE MCCARTY, BLAIN PATRICK CASEY

AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Logan Jay Gilbert, 24, of 2709 Lavender Street, New Orleans, LA and Christopher Lee McCarty, 43, of 470 Hickory Ridge Drive, Coldspring, TX, on felony drug and gun law violations arising from a traffic stop on U. S. 90 late Monday.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle on Highway 90 commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Blain Patrick Casey, 25, of 16434 Desert Street, Conroe, Texas and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. In doing so, the deputy noticed movement within the passenger compartments of the vehicle. In the interest of officer / violator safety, the deputy removed the two remaining occupants namely Logan Jay Gilbert and Christopher Lee McCarty from the vehicle and conducted a protective pat down search of the three individuals.

During the personal search of McCarty, the deputy located and seized a quantity of Adderall and McCarty acknowledged that he did not have a prescription for the substance.

The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the suspect vehicle. During the search process, deputies recovered two handguns.

At the conclusion of the investigation, all three occupants were charged as to the following:

– Logan J. Gilbert was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on a charge of:
*Prohibited Possession of Firearms

Logan J. Gilbert remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

– Christopher Lee McCarty was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Adderall without a Prescription
*Illegal Carrying of weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance

Christopher Lee McCarty remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

The driver, Blain Patrick Casey was cited for:

*Speeding
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle

Blain Patrick Casey was released with a court date.
