ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING / STOLEN FIREARM
VERIFIED COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST 14-YEAR-OLD
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports an accidental shooting on or about February 13, 2021 and the charging of a juvenile by verified complaint as a result of that incident.
On February 13, 2021. Deputies responded to a residence in Bayou L’Ourse in reference to a juvenile who sustained a non-life-threatening wound from a firearm.
Detectives initiated a follow up investigation and determined that a firearm involved in the incident had been reported stolen in Morgan City sometime prior.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives filed a verified complaint against a 14-year-old juvenile for the criminal offenses of:
*Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
The verified complaint was filed on March 31, 2021. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent.
