SCAM ALERT – SCAM ALERT – SCAM ALERT
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon wants to caution residents concerning an ongoing scam related to the sale of dogs.
Unknown suspects are stealing people’s identities then contacting potential victims pretending to have a cute dog for sale.
When its time to “meet” the dog, they insist that the individual pay a specific amount through PayPal or Zelle or through a similar app.
The SCAM appears to be legitimate to the prospective buyer (victim) because the suspects are using a stolen identity of someone local through social media.
