DRUG LAW VIOLATION / TRAFFIC STOP

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jamon Deondre Herbert, 26, of 179 Violet Street, Labadieville, LA on drug law violations following a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon.
A detective unit on assignment observed a vehicle leaving a business establishment near Plattenville. The vehicle was operating in a reckless manner and ran a stop sign at Spur 70 and LA 308.
The detective pursued the vehicle and initiated a stop near Napolenville. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Jamon Deondre Herbert. During the officer / violator interview, Herbert was evasive and exhibited signs consistent with illegal drug activity.
At some point, a K-9 was summoned to the stop location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.
A search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of Hydrocodone.
Jamon Deondre Herbert was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Disregarding a Stop Sign
*Possession of Hydrocodone with Intent to Distribute
*Illegally Supplying a Felon with a Firearm
The listed firearms charge is in connection with a shooting incident at a Plattenville business on June 25, 2020.
Herbert remains incarcerated with bond set at $75,000.
