DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
TYLER JOSEPH CHENEVERT
PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Tyler Joseph Chenevert, 26, of 39150 Hwy. 621, Gonzales, LA, on felony drug and aggravated flight charges in connection with a traffic incident in Pierre Part on Wednesday night.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted an investigative stop of the vehicle. The violator continued west bound towards Belle River, crossed the Belle River Bridge then turned towards Bayou Pigeon at speeds in excess of 95 mph.
Iberville Parish joined in the pursuit and at some point, the suspect vehicle loss control near White Castle.
The driver and one passenger fled on foot. The suspect driver, now identified as Tyler J. Chenevert, was captured after a brief foot pursuit. The passenger remains at large. During the pursuit, the passenger allegedly tossed a package from the vehicle and that package is suspected of containing illegal narcotics. Illegal drugs were also seized from the vehicle.
Tyler Joseph Chenevert was transferred back to Assumption Parish and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility on charges of:
*Obstruction of Justice
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Resisting an Officer (Two Counts)
*No Driver’s License
*No License Plate
*Switched License Plate
*Tail Lamps Required
*Probation and Parole Hold
Tyler Joseph Chenevert remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Deputies are continuing their efforts to locate the passenger.
