DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS / TRAFFIC STOP – JOEY ANTHONY CHOPLIN, JR.

AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joey Anthony Choplin, Jr., 42, of 711 Highway 1000, Belle Rose, LA, on charges arising from a traffic stop on Sunday.

Deputies observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle on Highway 182 near Amelia.

The deputy made contact with the driver, Joey Anthony Choplin, Jr., and engaged into an officer / violator interview.

At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy thought additional investigation was warranted and thus requested consent to search the vehicle which the suspect granted.

During that process, deputies did locate several controlled dangerous substances.

Joey Anthony Choplin, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Improper Lane Usage
*Prohibited Acts – Schedule III
*Possession of Diazepam (Valium)
*Possession of Vivanse

Joey Anthony Choplin, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
