FUGITIVE ARREST – ATTEMPTED SECOND DEGREE MURDER – CHARLES JONES, JR.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charles Jones, Jr., 52, of 18015 Planchet Road, Greenwell Springs, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a shooting incident that occurred on June 12, 2023, near Napoleonville.
Deputies responded to a report of someone being shot near LA 1008. Deputies located an individual who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Detectives initiated an investigation and determined that the shooting had occurred at a residence in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Street. As the investigation progressed, Charles Jones, Jr. was identified as a suspect. The shooting occurred while the victim and suspect, Charles Jones, Jr., were engaged in an argument. Charles Joes, Jr., fled the area following the shooting. Detectives secured arrest warrants for the arrest of Charles Jones, Jr.
On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Charles Jones, Jr. turned himself in at the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Charles Jones, Jr. was arrested and booked into the facility on charges of:
*Attempted Second Degree Murder
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of
Domestic Abuse Battery
Charles Jones, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $200,000.
