TRAFFIC INCIDENT / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BERTRANDVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Melvin Breaux, 36, of 3071 Brasset Road, Donaldsonville, LA and Kelly Derrell Jones, 38, of 201 Madewood Drive, Donaldsonville, LA, on traffic and drug law charges following a traffic incident near Bertrandville on Monday.

A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle parked in the roadway causing a disruption in traffic.

Upon investigating, the deputy identified the driver as Kelly Derrell Jones and the passenger as Melvin Breaux.

As a result of the deputy’s investigation, a quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized.

Melvin Breaux was arrested and booked on felony charges of:

*Possession of Marijuana – Third Offense
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Third Offense

Kelly Derrell Jones was cited for:

*Expired or Cancelled License Plate
*No Insurance
*Obedience to and Required Traffic Control Devices

Melvin Breaux remains incarcerated in the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
