TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Matthew P. Guercio, 38, of 13368 Country Manor, Baton Rouge, La., on drug and gun law violations following a traffic stop Tuesday morning north of Labadieville, La.
A uniformed patrol deputy on assignment on LA 308, observed a vehicle with multiple equipment violations and initiated a stop of the vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Matthew P. Guercio. During contact with the driver, the deputy observed a shotgun on the rear seat of the vehicle. The deputy further noted the driver to be somewhat nervous.
After the interview process, the deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the deputy seized quantities of Adderall and meth-amphetamine.
Matthew Guercio was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility on charges of:
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Adderall
*Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Sticker
*Headlamps Required
Guercio remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
