TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG LAW VIOLATION – I.C.E. ARRESTS
DUANE MCCLENDON, YAMIRKA GIGLIO

GRAND BAYOU – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Duane D. McClendon, 52, of 39115 Tyler Ballard Road, Walker, LA and Yamirka Giglio, 37, of 39115 Tyler Ballard Road, Walker, LA, arising from a traffic stop near Grand Bayou on late Sunday.

A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. Unit observed an east bound vehicle near LA 69 and LA 70 commit multiple traffic related violations and initiated a stop of that vehicle. As the deputy approached the Grand Bayou Bridge, he observed the front seat passenger throw an item out of the vehicle which bounced off of the bridge railing and back into the lane of traffic.

The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Duane D. McClendon, who was non-compliant. At some point, the passenger exited the vehicle, and she as well was non-compliant and was immediately detained.

The deputy conducted a protective pat down search of the driver.

Upon interviewing the driver, the deputy believed that he as well as the passenger were involved in criminal activity.

The investigating deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. Upon arrival, the K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies seized a significant quantity of methamphetamine as well as assorted paraphernalia.
