TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Crystal Elizabeth Lopez, 35, of 1714 New Horizons Drive, Lot 15, New Iberia, LA, on multiple felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 398 west of Labadieville on Saturday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle with a licensing violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Crystal Elizabeth Lopez and engaged her in an officer / violator interview. During the interview the deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy then interviewed an adult passenger in the vehicle. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of multiple controlled dangerous substances.
Crystal Elizabeth Lopez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Adderall
*Possession of Vyvanse
*Expired or Cancelled License Plate
Crystal Elizabeth Lopez was released on a $6,000 bond.
