TRAFFIC STOP – FELONY ARREST – GREGORY J. JONES
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gregory J. Jones, 64, of 6285 Highway 70 North, Belle Rose, LA, on traffic and felony charges arising out of a Sunday afternoon investigative stop near Napoleonville, LA.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a north bound vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of the violator.
Upon coming into contact with the driver, now identified as Gregory J. Jones, the suspect immediately became confrontational and began to lodge physical threats against investigating deputies.
The deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol emitting from Jones and made a decision to detain him at which time he did resist those attempts.
A search of his vehicle did yield a quantity of suspected marijuana.
Gregory J. Jones was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense)
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Resisting an Officer
*Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)
*Public Intimidation
Gregory J. Jones was released on a $67,500 bond.
