TRAFFIC VIOLATION – D.W.I. / DERRICK KENDELL SPURLOCK

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Derrick Kendell Spurlock, 34, of 141 Peterville Lane, Belle Rose, LA, felony charges resulting from a traffic stop near the intersection of Hwy. 1000 and Hwy. 1.

On Friday evening, February 25, 2022, a uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Derrick Kendell Spurlock. During the officer / violator interview, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from Derrick Kendell Spurlock. Derrick Kendell Spurlock then participated in a field sobriety test during which he performed poorly.

Derrick Kendell Spurlock was arrested for suspicion of D.W.I. and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Derrick Kendell Spurlock was charged with the following violations:

*Operating Vehicle with Suspended License; Other Offenses
*D.W.I. – 3rd Offense (Felony)
*Unlawful Refusal to Submit Chemical Tests (Misd.)
*Maximum Speed Limit
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic

Derrick Kendell Spurlock remains incarcerated with bond set at $75,000.
