WANTED VIOLENT CRIMES SUSPECT ARRESTED
ROBERT RAINEY, JR.
LABADIEVILLE –Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Robert Rainey, Jr., 37, of 108 Rhett Place, Gray, La., on Friday after turning himself into detectives to face a battery of charges related to a violent incident that occurred on August 22, 2020 near Labadieville, La.
Detectives initiated an investigation after deputies responded to a shooting incident on Violet Street. Three individuals were shot during a barrage of gunfire. The three victims who were seriously injured continue to recover.
During the investigative process, detectives learned that Robert Rainey, Jr. committed an aggravated assault with a large caliber firearm at a Labadieville business. That incident led to the Violet Street shootings.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives applied for and were granted arrest warrants against Robert Rainey, Jr.
On Friday, Robert Rainey, Jr., was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Attempted Second Degree Murder (1 Count)
*Aggravated Second Degree Battery (2 Counts)
*Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property (1 Count)
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
Robert Rainey, Jr., was incarcerated with bond set at $100,000.
